This Week at Frost 4/27/20
Dear Frost MS Students and Families,
I want to start off by stating how proud I am of everyone at Frost Middle School! You guys exemplify what it means to be dedicated, responsive, and flexible given all of the challenges you may be experiencing during this time. As I said Thursday night, there are no more dedicated professionals than we have at Frost! I truly believe that as I have been in multiple places in FCPS and I haven't seen anything like it anywhere else! I have heard from teachers, students, and families that are very thankful and excited about the promise of synchronous capabilities. I am hopeful that it works next week, because for those students who had the opportunity to connect virtually with teachers, it was extremely impactful!
There is a lot to celebrate this week! Our very own Civics team was recognized by the National Archive's 2020 Archivist's Achievement Awards! Wow! They have been given the Citizen Archivist Award for their service learning work with our 8th grade students! It was so much fun to see students interact with primary source documents. Everyone can try it out! You can be a citizen archivist as well! Visit the National Archives or ask someone on the Civics team for more information!
Our students are posting positive notes on the #ONEFrost Students and Staff shoutouts! In addition, students are writing letters to Covid-19! I've seen some great letters that are deeply personal; this is a perfect outlet for our students to share their experiences. As we all know, writing can be therapeutic and cathartic!
The Virtual Parent Coffee was extremely productive and informative! Thanks again to the leadership of the Frost MS PTA for their work in collaborating with us to get this started! Here’s the video recording of the session for those who were not able to join! https://youtu.be/J91Wj3KTp58
All the best this weekend! As always, "Work Hard, Be Nice, and Widen Your Circle. We are #ONEFrost!"

Please mark your calendars to prepare to send notes of appreciation to your teachers! I know you all have already sent so many notes of thanks. So thanks in advance.
What are students learning?
This will be a weekly addition to the This Week at Frost communication! Hopefully you will be able to see all of the great things students are learning in their classes! These are the submissions from the past two weeks, which is why you will see some duplication! We will work to have all departments share each week!
Distance Learning Packets- Blackboard FCPS 24/7

Introducing the Student Services Blackboard Site
Our counselors are excited to share a new resource for students that was made available on Monday, April 20th. In addition, students will receive weekly messages from counselors to stay motivated and healthy.
The Frost Student Services Blackboard page is available under the ‘My Courses’ tab.
Each week be on the lookout for:

Month of the Military Child
At Frost, our military-connected youth represent 12% of our population. To recognize the strength and resiliency of this portion of our larger Frost community, we are inviting students to participate in the activities below:
- Print and display this poster in the front window of your home to show passers by your support for our military-connected youth
- Send a friend a thoughtful message to thank them for the sacrifices their family has made
Are you a Frost Military-Connected Youth?
We want to hear from you! Please complete this form.
