Odyssey of the Mind Team Races to States with "OMers to the Rescue!
Our talented Odyssey of the Mind team is heading to the state tournament on April 26th at Mechanicsville HS! Their creative solution to the "OMers to the Rescue!" problem showcased their ingenuity and teamwork.
The challenge: to create a performance centered around an unusual animal rescue character tasked with finding homes for whimsical balsa wood and glue animals. Two of these animals represented real species, while one was a unique, team-created creature. The rescue character had to test the safety of potential homes by demonstrating their ability to balance and hold significant weight. The performance also featured a humorous veterinarian character conducting a check-up on one of the animals, and a creative application of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda.
Mentor Ben Fox shared his pride in the team's rapid success: "Our Odyssey of the Mind team had a quick turnaround time between organizing and competing. The students were able to put together a presentation and structure within two weeks that qualified us for the state tournament. I am proud of how they performed, especially the teamwork-oriented atmosphere they cultivate."
