Frost Students Discover the Optimism Within Them
Students in Frost's Deaf and Hard of Hearing program took part in an oratorical contest arranged by the Optimist Club of Central Fairfax
Students in Frost's Deaf and Hard of Hearing program competed in an oratorical contest hosted by the Optimist Club of Central Fairfax. They shared personal essays on "Discovering the Optimism Within Me" and talked about their experiences growing up with hearing loss. Despite being their first time speaking to a large audience, students shared how their families support them, their communication struggles, and their resilience and optimism for the future. Two finalists, Salma and Casey, will advance to the district competition for a $2500 scholarship! As one student said, "Optimism isn't easy. But maybe it's a lot easier than I thought."
