Mr. Harris has over seventeen years of experience as an educator in Fairfax County Public Schools primarily serving at the middle school level. Before his appointment as principal of Robert Frost Middle School, he served as an assistant principal at Edgar Allan Poe Middle School where he helped to improve math and reading instruction resulting in increased student achievement for all students as well as the removal of the Project Momentum status for Poe MS. 

Prior to his leadership role at Poe MS, he served as an assistant principal at Robert Frost Middle School implementing our Falcon Focus program and overseeing the construction of the Finance Park and modular building on the campus.  Mr. Harris taught for eight years in FCPS, teaching Marketing Education and Business and Information Technology, respectively at Herndon High School and Holmes Middle School. Between teaching assignments, in 2006, he worked as an administrative intern through the LEAD Fairfax program at Fairfax High School and Holmes Middle School.

A firm believer in the power of professional growth and development, in addition to his time as an administrative intern, Mr. Harris was a Peer Mentor for assistant principals in FCPS and was a member of FCPS’ Aspiring Principals Cohort in 2015. During this time he had the great fortune of participating in Harvard University’s New and Aspiring School Leaders Institute. Mr. Harris also supported and delivered professional development serving as a leader on the Region 2 Compass Planning Group for three years. 

Mr. Harris holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Education with a Minor in Business from Virginia Tech and a Master’s in Education Leadership from George Mason University. Mr. Harris is married to his lovely wife Rosalyn and the proud father of Sydney.   

Ms. Hornbecker is excited to start her sixth full year as the Director of Student Services at Frost Middle School.  She has been an educator in FCPS for the past eighteen years.  She began her career as a math teacher at Sandburg Middle School before transitioning to the role of School Counselor at Whitman and Kilmer Middle Schools.  

She is originally from New York where she earned her undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a certification in Secondary Education 7-12 at SUNY Geneseo. She earned a Masters in School Counseling at Marymount University and her certification in Education Leadership from George Mason University.

Ms. Hornbecker loves going to all sporting events with her husband, but is particularly a big fan of the NY Giants.  She also enjoys traveling along the east coast to spend time with family, hanging with her dog, Rocky, and trips to the beach.     

Ms. Hornbecker supports our Math, Art, ESOL, and Student Services departments.

Joe Berret is beginning his 5th year as an Assistant Principal at Frost after holding various positions at Poe MS, Thoreau MS, and Annandale HS.  

Mr. Berret is originally from Pittsburgh and received his undergraduate degree from The University of Maryland, a Masters in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University, and a Masters in School Administration from George Mason University.

When he’s not at Frost, Mr. Berret enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 young daughters, playing hockey, listening to music, watching movies, and completing home improvement projects.  

Mr. Berret is the administrator for the Voyagers, Endeavors, and Travelers teams and supports the Science, Health and Physical Education, and Career and Technical Education departments as well.

Ms. Porter is beginning her twelfth year as an educator and ninth year with FCPS. Prior to becoming a part of the Frost community, she was a Dean of Students for two years and science teacher for five years at Glasgow Middle school in Alexandria and a science teacher in Mason, Ohio.

Ms. Porter earned a bachelor of science degree in middle childhood education from Ohio University and a master of education in Educational Policy with an emphasis in Global Studies in Education from the University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign. She completed her certification in Administration and Supervision through the Accelerated Certification Cohort, which is a partnership program between FCPS and the University of Virginia.  

She is a proud daughter, sister, aunt, and dog-mom who enjoys traveling, exploring DC galleries, hiking in the Shenandoah, and attending live music events.   

Ms. Porter is the administrator for the Galaxy, Explorers, and Atoms teams and supports our English and Performing Arts departments as well.

Ms. Shannon is excited to start her 4th year working with the Frost community.  She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and certification in Special Education grades K-12 at James Madison University. She later earned her National Board Teaching Certification and completed her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies through Virginia Tech University.

Ms. Shannon’s work as an educator, spanning 19 years, began in her hometown of Stafford, Virginia and continued as she taught math and science in the Boston Public School System.  She returned to Virginia and worked for several years as a teacher and Special Education Department Chair at Cedar Lane, a Public Day School in Fairfax County, before her appointment as an Assistant Principal at Frost Middle School.  Here at Frost, she supports specialized programs including the Comprehensive Services Site, the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program, and oversees the staff supporting students with special needs.

When she is away from Frost, she loves spending time with her family, especially her sweet daughter Charlotte.

 

Mr. Clements began as a PHTA in the Work Awareness and Transition program at Robinson Secondary in 2007.  The following year, he became a special education science teacher.  Mr. Clements taught Chemistry, Geosystems, Biology, and the Student Government Association over the next six years.  Additionally, he coached JV and Varsity Baseball.  He was afforded the opportunity of being the Systems of Support Advisor in 2014.  Last year, he served as the Assistant Principal of Special Education at Franklin Middle School.

Mr. Clements is the administrator for the Cavaliers and Seekers teams and supports our Social Studies and Special Education departments as well.
